Every week, Your New Favorite Playlist introduces you to workout-worthy tunes from a different fitness brand. This week, TheRUN shares a playlist from a recent class.
Raise your hand if you’ve ever been personally victimized by a treadmill. Yup, thought so. Runner Lindsey McMeen feels your pain. “I used to despise running on treadmills,” she says. “When marathon training, if I at any point had to run on a treadmill, it was the bane of my existence.” But when she tried out the routine—and the machines—at TheRUN, a fitness studio in New York City, she changed her tune. “[These machines do] everything for you, so you don’t have to think about it.” By “everything,” she means that they measure your base running pace and then adjust your speed throughout the workout accordingly so you do intervals that are challenging—but not too difficult. “You just get on that treadmill and get an incredibly strong, phenomenal workout,” says McMeen.”
But the high-tech machines aren’t the only thing that helps TheRUN put the “dreadmill” stereotype to bed. McMeen designs each playlist to make the workouts as enjoyable as possible. “Music is like my life, so this is the most fun part for me,” she says. “I love instructing—don’t get me wrong—but I really love creating the playlists because I feel like music just helps people get through it.” Try out the mix from a recent class during your next treadmill sesh:
